The Walking Iron Sanctuary
This rooms is named after our town’s name ,Mazomanie. It comes from Chief Mazomani, a leader of the Sioux of Minnesota. His name translates to “The Iron That Walks” or “Walking Iron”. It was applied to the town when the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad reached the site in 1855. Chief Mazomanie was described as a firm friend of the settlers. He was wounded on September 23, 1862, in a battle between a band of Indians led by Little Crow, a Sioux chief, and the U.S. Army near Yellow Medicine River, Minnesota. Chief Mazomanie had sought a flag of truce, but was shot while running toward the Army’s lines. He dies several days later.

The Cooper Suite
This room is named after the our home’s builder William Thompson and decorated in a cooper/mill style decor.
The year was 1865 when an enterprising barrel cooper from Milwaukee named William Thompson journeyed to Mazomanie and began building this stately home.
Financed by his success with the Mazomanie Flour Mill, Thompson constructed this impressive Italianate home.
The king-size iron bed, large private bath, English Art-Nouveau shower tiles create a peaceful, atmosphere.
Surrounding the corner whirlpool, note the hand-cast plaster cartouches depicting morning and night. Located on the second floor.

The Equestrian Rose Room
Named for Lenora Kester, the Doctor’s wife who lived in the house from 1899 to 1954 and especially enjoyed her gardens, which you see just out the windows. they also raised race horses in the carriage house.
Decorated in an equestrian flair with rose accents this rooms is sure to impress.
It contains rich burgundy wallpaper, regal carpet, hand-painted lincrusta frieze and ceiling medallion. Featuring a queen-size half-canopied iron bed with pillow-topped mattress.
The adjoining luxury private bath features classic-styled fixtures, ceramic floor tile and six-foot double whirlpool, giving this room a true sense of royalty. Located on the second floor.

The Stable Room
This room is named after the stables Dr. Kester raised his race horses in.
The queen-sized bed sits calmly amid the rustic-chic barn themed furnishings and decor.
Features a full private bath, dining and living space, and private patio overlooking the Creek. Located on the first floor in Carriage House.

The Nordic Retreat
Enjoy the king-size scrolled iron bed…the private bath, complete with double whirlpool and a seperate marble-tiled shower. The crackled pitcher and bowl, faded immigrant’s trunk, and Scandinavian memoirs are all reminders of what might have been Alsie Peterson’s retreat.
Her room would have been a welcomed respite after her household duties, a comfortable space to call her own. We wanted to give this suite a more elegant feeling in her name.
Surrounded by whimsical architectural antiques and hand-painted tiles, you’ll savor the passage of time! Step through the French doors and onto the Veranda…your private garden haven. Located on the first floor.
**This room is the closest room to the Speakeasy, Beer Garden & Live music as the veranda overlooks the Beer Garden and live music is played on the veranda a little away from the room. This room is also directly down the hall from the Speakeasy.
